Health Benefits of Dalchini (Cinnamon)

Cinnamon (Dalchini) is the dried bark of a tiny tree (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum), which primarily grows in western and southern India. It is one of the oldest and most significant spices used in "Garam Masala," an ingredient in Indian cuisine. Due to its essential oils, it has a unique flavour and aroma. It is offered in the market as rolled, dried sticks. 'Tejpatra' is the name given to its leaves.

In Ayurveda, dalchini is also known as "Tvak" and used to treat a variety of illnesses, including the flu, indigestion, edema, and cough, among others. According to Ayurveda, it has a sharp, sweet, and spicy flavour. It is generally advised for those with the Kaphavata constitution since it is light, coarse, penetrating, and piercing.
